Saturday night our Bible Study group came over for a cookout. Matt & I had the picnic table set and the fire started and pretty much the time everyone arrived it began to rain. So the guys hauled the table & the grill into the garage and we still enjoyed a yummy meal. Uncle Steve & Auntie Karin brought a bubble machine for the kids' entertainment - it was a hit! The skies cleared up shortly and we were able to spend the rest of the evening outside around the fire. Matt enjoys campfire cooking and made us all ballard biscuits and smores for dessert.

Little Stinker
I can't necessarily see that Noelle is getting taller but she has to be because she can now get into drawers that were out of her reach a month ago. Her latest favorite is the snack drawer in the kitchen, usually she just snags the boxes of granola bars and occupies herself taking the bars out of the box and then putting them back in, over and over and over ... doesn't take much to entertain a one year old! Today however she found a box of crackers and decided to help herself to a little snack, guess she was ready for lunch a little sooner than I thought.

Weekend Getaway
Life feels like it's been crazy busy lately ... work, yard & garden projects, finishing the basement, plans with family and friends ... Matt and I just haven't had enough time to spend on eachother so we decided to getaway for the weekend, just the two of us. We dropped Noelle off by grandpa and grandma on Friday morning and took the fifth-wheel out to Holland State Park. We didn't need to go far away, just away from everything that distracts us at home. We went boating, took walks, slept in, watched movies, sat around the campfire, read ... relaxed! It was exactly what we needed. Since life only promises to get busier with baby's arrival in a couple of months, we are glad we had this time together, as it may be quite awhile before we can do it again!

Big Girl!
Noelle showed us that she could walk about a month ago, but hasn't had the confidence or motivation to venture out on her own very often. She enjoyed walking but preferred to hold a grown-up's hand. Then yesterday she got over whatever was holding her back, when I got home from work she surprised me by toddling through the house all night long. As you can see, she is quite proud of herself ... and so is mommy!

I've Finally Done It
I've been thinking for awhile that I should create our own blog. I thought it would be a fun way to share the exciting and just ordinary things that are happening in the life of our family with the people that I don't see very often and also those that I see at least once a week. But I didn't think I was computer savvy enough to set one up and I doubted my faithfulness in posting regularly. I decided to just give it a try and it was actually very simple to create, now I just have to make time to post often enough so that you all don't give up on checking in on us occasionally!
