My New Bag!

I mentioned a couple of posts ago that I got a new sewing machine for Christmas, and here is my first project. I haven't gotten a new diaper bag since Addison was born, and I was ready for change. I am so happy with how it turned out, it was actually easier than I expected. I've purchased handmade bags in the past, but it was very fun to design my own and there is just a sense of satisfaction that comes with putting in your time and coming out with a fun product in the end. I think I am going to try some hooded towels next ... so many ideas, just wish I had more time! :)

Baby Peeps!

One of Matt's winter projects has been building a chicken coop so that we could raise a few egg layers. The purpose of having them isn't so much to supply us with eggs, we just thought the girls would enjoy watching them grow and helping to take care of them. Matt brought them home about a week ago on the day that they were hatched and it is amazing how quickly they have grown! They are living in our garage for a few weeks until they are a bit bigger and can handle moving outside into the cold, so the girls have lots of opportunites to check on them.
I asked Noelle to show me how much she likes the baby peeps, she has been waiting for this day for weeks!

Noelle loves to pet them, Addison loves watching them but wants nothing to do with touching them! It is so fun for mommy and daddy too, to see them so excited about their new pets! :)

Becoming Crafty?!?

It all started with me deciding to make some hair clips/bows for Noelle. Generally I try to avoid making things myself because I am a perfectionist and the end result never seems to turn out as I had envisioned. But I figured this should be a fairly easy project, I won't have much invested in it, so if they don't turn out, oh well I'll see if I can find what I'm looking for online. Well, I ended up being mostly satisfied with the finished product and I had fun doing it too. So the hats were my next project (didn't knit the hats - I will still let someone else do that part for me :). Noelle loves hers, can't get her to take it off, we're still working on convincing Addison how cute she looks. AND I got a new sewing machine for Christmas, I am taking a class to learn how to use it tomorrow, hopefully what I learned in 4H way back when will come back to me quickly cause I have lots of projects I can't wait to try. So I guess now I can be officially labeled 'crafty'.
